Getting started
Arq Pro lets you manage backups across many computers from a central web console. This guide takes you from signing up to seeing your first computer appear in the console.
Create your account
Section titled “Create your account”Go to pro.arqbackup.com/#/register and fill in:
- Company name
- Full name
- Phone
- Email address
- Password
We’ll email you a short verification code to confirm your email address — enter it on the registration page. (Codes expire after 30 minutes; if yours has expired, we automatically send you a fresh one.) Once you submit the form, your Arq Pro account and subscription are created and you’re signed in.
Sign in to the web console
Section titled “Sign in to the web console”The web console lives at pro.arqbackup.com. Sign in with the email and password you just chose. This is where you’ll manage computers, groups, backup plans, storage locations, and billing.
Your 60-day free trial
Section titled “Your 60-day free trial”Every new account starts with a 60-day free trial. You don’t need to enter a payment method to start — you can add computers and run backups right away. To keep your subscription active past day 60, add a payment method before the trial ends. See Billing & your trial for pricing and how the transition to paid works.
Install Arq on your first computer
Section titled “Install Arq on your first computer”In the console, open the Dashboard. The Downloads section shows the Arq installer for each platform along with your Arq Pro license code:
- macOS — ArqSilent7.pkg
- Windows — Arq7.msi
Download the installer for the computer you want to back up and run it. (The same downloads and license code also appear on the Computers page.)
Activate with your license code
Section titled “Activate with your license code”Once Arq is installed, activate it with the license code shown in the console:
-
Interactively — open Arq and enter the license code when prompted to activate.
-
From the command line — run:
Terminal window arqc activateLicense <your-license-code>
Activating with an Arq Pro license code points the computer at your Arq Pro account. From then on, the computer checks in with the console and receives any backup plans and storage locations you’ve assigned to its group.
See your computer appear
Section titled “See your computer appear”Back in the console, open the Computers page. Within a short time your newly activated computer shows up in the list, along with details like its name and last check-in. From here you can put it in a group so it picks up that group’s backup plans and storage locations.
Next steps
Section titled “Next steps”- Web console basics — a tour of each page in the console.
